3 Different Ways of Treating Acne Scars
After you emerged victorious and succeeded eliminating a pimple off your face, you may face an equally menacing problem when a pimple scar is left. This reddish to brownish mark on your face can be an unsightly area on your face and you have to get rid of it as soon as possible. Here are some suggestions that you can try for treating acne scars.
Treatment for Acne Scars
There are two types of acne scars, the first one is the scar with a gradual depression and the other is a deep yet narrow mark on the face. Treatment for scars depends on the severity of the scars. In some severe cases, the dermatologist may recommend having a chemical peel to eliminate the appearance of the scar and to reveal a radiant and fresh skin. Here are some of the other treatments that you can consider:
1.) Laser Resurfacing
This is a simple procedure and it can be done in a doctor’s office. The laser light removes the layer of the skin which is damaged and it tightens the pores at the middle layer to reveal a smooth and clear new layer of skin. It can last for an hour to a few minutes. The procedure may start with the doctor giving you anesthesia to reduce the pain. After the procedure, the skin can heal for about five to ten days.
2.) Dermabrassion
This type of treatment utilizes a wire brush or a spinning diamond instrument that wears down the surface of your skin. As your skin heals, a new and smooth layer will emerge and will replace the damaged and abraded layer. When this procedure is used, the healing process may take longer, it may take at least ten days to two weeks.
3.) Fractional Laser Therapy
This type of treatment goes deeper in the skin than where normal laser therapies are not able to reach. This is also advantageous since this procedure does not involved the wounding or peeling of the upper layer of the skin. The healing time is shorter and the results are as good as the other treatments.
In eliminating acne scars, it is best to go straight to your doctor and have them examine your condition before you resort to any indepth solution. One thing that you should avoid is the use of creams and lotions for these may irritate your skin and cause more harm. They can also make the scars look redder and thus, increase their visibility.
There are many ways for treating acne scars. It depends solely on you which type of treatment you will use. In some cases you may even be able to use homemade acne remedies to improve your condition.
